I have been playing guitar for 23 years and have had the privilege of owning dozens of guitars. I have played on stage and done some semi-professional recording. When looking for a specific sound, I usually go to a local guitar shop and plunk around on various brands of all shapes and sizes until I get the tone I am looking for.

A few years back I bought an acoustic from Ovation and was thrilled! They have a lot of versatility which makes them a great go-to guitar for any purpose. Recently, I was looking for a fuller sound for a project I was working on and purchased an Ovation Celebrity CC245. This thing sounds like a full orchestra.

I'm in love with the whole package! The on-board electronics are quite and responsive. The faders make it easy to customize your sound. When accompanying a band, I can get the great backup sound to fill in the gaps, or I can make it sound great solo.

The other really nice feature is the on-board tuner. It's a must have for a 12 string guitar. I suppose it's great for people who use alternate tunings too. That being said, one issue I've seen with 12 string guitars is intonation. After a few minutes of practice, the things are out of tune, not to mention playing under hot lights. Fortunately, I have not had this problem with any of my Ovation acoustics. They tend to stay in tune for days, in fact, the thing was shipped to my doorstep in tune! I was so impressed.

If you're not used to a rounded back on your guitar, it will take some getting used to. However, I find it's much more comfortable when standing than a conventional shape. The rosewood fretboard is great and easy to maintain. I get no buzz and very little fret noise. The top is spruce. It looks great and is easy to clean. The hardware is gold and very sturdy.

Overall this is one of the best purchases I have made in my life. I would definitely try one out if you get a chance. Most people fall in love with them. When it comes time to buy, your best bet is eBay. They have the best selection of different models, the best prices, and they're never out of stock.
