Gibson 12 String Guitar

Discover awesome blues guitar secrets that 90% of guitar players don't know?

Playing a Gibson guitar is a joy and a rite of passage for many guitar players. The name is part of the allure, but the quality of the product is the real draw. The weight of the guitar in your hands, the sleek neck, and the amazingly textured fingerboard is a feeling that many guitar players, including myself, never forget.

Gibson 12 String Guitar

When I grab a Gibson 12 string guitar, the first thing I like to do is to simply slide my hands up and down the neck and feel the fingerboard and frets. It does not take long to appreciate the inlays on the black fingerboard. They are easily distinguished as you play, but they do not get in the way. After a little bit, I start to strum some simple chords. I can not say that I am an skilled player who has a feel like the great Les Paul, but with a high quality Gibson, I feel like I more talented than I really am. The sound is warm and clean.

The Gibson 12 string guitar has some of the best electronics available, which makes plugging it into an amp a joy to listen to. However, it also works great acoustically. The dreadnought body style is purposely small. There are times when I look at the guitar from afar and wonder how such a clean, warm sound comes out of a guitar of that shape and size. The spruce top gives it that one of a kind Gibson look.

The only problems I find with the Gibson 12 string is the look of the smallish body. While the sound is exceptional, I just can not get past the look. Other players I know do not seem to have the same issues, so I assume it purely a personal preference.

One other issue is the price. A brand new Gibson 12 string guitar can be costly. However, because of the high quality of the Gibson, it is fairly easy to find a used one that is in excellent condition. Doing some searching on eBay is a great way to find a great priced model.
